Holland Civic Center

After decades of stalemate regarding this civic icon’s future, The City of Holland engaged the Edgewater team to facilitate the redevelopment of the Holland Civic Center. Through a robust engagement process, the team distilled the needs and wants of the stakeholders to produce a plan that welcomes and serves all members of the community. This project renovated the 60-year-old Civic Center and the surrounding site including converting under-used parking lots into multi-purpose space, while strengthening the physical connection of downtown Holland through to the Lake Macatawa waterfront. Through a careful balance of recreation, cultural programming, and farmer’s market activity, the site catalyzes the activation of the west end of 8th Street. The award-winning project was completed in 2018.
